A SYMPHONY OF COlOUR – A NATURE STORY Exhibition from 3rd – 30th November 2024.
Introduction
Chege Gitura is an artist who practices Interior design as a profession. “I studied Art and Painting up to A level but opted for Interior design for my undergraduate studies. My desire to draw and paint can be traced back to when I was 5 years old in the country side of Murang’a, where I was born and raised”,
My Statement
We should never fear to create but we should fear not to try”. In order to paint, we must go back to the basics and learn how to sketch before we can paint, only then can we freely express ourselves artistically. We all have a story to tell. Painting gives me untold pleasure; it is my way of expressing my story You can do the same by singing or even writing. I have been privileged to tour and interact with diverse people of the world. Our landscape, the waters, the hills and the valleys are so full of color that asks to be put onto canvas to be captured in its picture-perfect form and intensity.
Inspiration of my art for this exhibition is derived from nature and the need to contribute positively to its preservation. My intent is to sensitize people to maintain our ground cover by planting, conserving trees and keeping our beautiful waters clean. As Prof. Wangari Maathai put it, “It’s the little things citizens do. That’s what will make the difference. My little thing is planting trees. We owe it to ourselves and to the next generation to conserve the environment so that we can bequeath our children a sustainable world that benefits all”
My little thing is to paint nature from my perception.
My work is open for discussion and indeed for comment.
